About the Queen Charlotte Track
The 71km Queen Charlotte Track meanders through beech forests, secluded bays and lush coastal bush. Canopies of native tree ferns cascade to the water’s edge and is home to a variety of birdlife.
Ideally, you can walk this popular New Zealand hiking track over 4-5 days and there are several accommodation options along the Track offering great hospitality, delicious food and local wine, some even with hot tubs in the bush. Walking packages are available which include accommodation, water transport and daily luggage transfers.
You will need to travel by water taxi from Picton to Ship Cove in the outer Queen Charlotte Sound where the Track begins. This trip takes around one hour and water taxis depart from 8am onwards from the Picton waterfront just 200 mtrs from Jasmine Court Motel.
You can experience the stunning Queen Charlotte Track on foot, mountain bike or explore the many bays, coves and inlets by kayak….or you can combine all three!
Our guests also love the freedom of being able to enjoy shorter sections of the Track with day trips departing Picton by water taxi from 8am, returning around 5pm.
